I too have the same problem. I rebuilt my motor to 405 hp at the rear wheels. Now the oil heats up very quickly. (I have a 10qt oil pan) Yes, Jack, running 1 quart less.
I can post 285 and even 305 at oil temps but the coolant temp is 210 to 230, this is at 165 mph or better. I shut it down after 50-60 miles and check temps with a digital thermo, I am showing 210 water and 260 to 300 oil.
It seems high to me too. But I go back to other post and everyone say 20 to 30 over water temp is normal. So I am highter but not putting the car around at 165, this is demand.
I have one of the relocation devices on my car. But it's not hooked up right now. The cooling 6 tube cooler is behond the front radator. I don't see how it's doing any good there so I decide not to plum it.
I check my oil every other day, I am not showing any signs of burning or dis- coloration and the oil is holding it own.
Got me me little baffled to. I know all motor oil is going to heat up under demand, but how much and the limit to how much is the question.
I got to figure that the rod bearings or mains will start to make noise if lubercation is a problem. At the first sign of this, I will rank the rod and mains to see.
Guess I am waiting to see, like you.
But until then, mine is running like a bat out of hell. And, I love every minute of it.

? #1 what is a normal oil temp.
#2 would a high volume/pressure pump with out a oil cooler cause this.
#3 Any recomendations on installing an oil cooler should I use a filter type adapter to plum it and could I run the cooler on the front of the car and maintain proper presure
