Here is original pic of 8qt pan in "raised" (modified mount)position! Already close to bottom of boss....and went WAY down once mounts were lowered to stock height!!

Note in LH of this pic, you can see bellhousing shield and how close oil pan bottom is to bottom of shield. Compare this to my first pic in my first post here....I'd have to say that I shortened the new pan by 1.75" based upon this!

I probably could have gotten by with a 1/2" lower pan.....but I also recall lifting my engine about 1/4" with spacers on my engine mounts(to the block 4 places) to level it out a tad. Not sure if the rear trans mounts were lifted also.....and wasn't going there as apparently the rear mounts vary from car to car! So I used spacers to level the engine out just a tad...and still fit the stock air cleaner.

Since no one should be driving these cars as they were intended......6-7 qts in one of the new pans should be fine.......! You will never find out if you can oil starve your engine!

PS: Use a stock oil pump.... High Volume pumps have been known to float valves at higher RPMs due to excess pressure caused by the higher volume.....

I have a Visio drawing of the new pan somewhere......which I sent to Armando.
