with some knowledge of UAW sub/assembly line & parts supply process, & I'd imagine that the Ford system was similar back in the day...
and with the Ford engines being sourced from the US, shipped over & assembled into the cars & shipped back again...
you'll see differences in parts identification at each step. because the engines & ancillaries were source as parts, they may & probably do have ID tags on them that batch parts that went directly to the US Mustang assy lines don't have. then once in Italy, again they may have inspection / acceptance markings that could change over several years
