Something to consider ...

My temp gage pegs full scale every once in a while when on a trip, I have learned it is an electrical problem with the gage wiring, and not a cooling system problem. If I turn the a/c off the gage goes back to a true reading.

The problem only happens on the road, I have not been able to duplicate the problem in the garage, therefore I haven't traced the problem yet. Its probably a bad ground or something.

I have also seen the oem coolant pipes that run beneath the car plugged solid with rust.
