overheating or not........

Hi all,

My temp guage reads 260 but the engine does not overheat or lose any coolant. Changed the thermostat to the correct Cleveland thermostat - 180 - , changed the water pump (new), changed the temp sender (new and in the block), still no change on the guage so I added an aftermarket guage and sender (guage is temporary and not mounted) as well as the factory ones just to compare. Factory guage reads 260 while the aftermarket guage never goes over 195. Now my question: Could it be a grounding problem with the guage and does the Veglia guage have some kind of resistor in the guage or circuit that makes it not work properly? It worked fine until about a month ago. Should I try another Veglia guage? Or will the problem maybe persist? This has become annoying as the weather is hot and I don't get a true reading and don't want any overheating problems.......I don't know much about electrical issues.
