10 years ago I tried to buy a Benz at a great price. The seller was a woman in distress. The complete scam was for the deposit (4K) which was to be sent to an escrow company for security. After informing the seller I planned to get on a plane and deliver cash money to any location she felt secure, and accept the car. When she replied she only felt secure with the escrow company. I contacted NCIS (working with at the time) who contacted the FBI. Response was they would normally accept but the FBI was so overloaded at the time that only cases where there was actual loss could be accepted.
