pantera into Canada?

I've been interested in a Pantera ever since I swiped the cover of a colleague's October 71 Road & Track with the De Tomaso ad on the inside. Back in the early 70's the Canadian and US dollar were on par (I know that's hard to believe!) but with today's low Canadian currency value, plus importation duties and shipping costs, the quest for a Canuck to find an affordable car from the US seems slim. It's apparent from viewing ads and selling prices, that private sales could be the way to go since car brokers/dealers obviously want to make some $$ plus the added taxes and DMV charges, etc. I'm wondering what pre-L or L cars may be out in Western Canada, which would seem like the best option to me?
