Reply to "Pantera on ebay"

Joe;

$3200 was the cost of the paint alone. The paint job cost him $32,000.

I build large scale replicas of cars (1/12 and 1/8). I learned a lot about painting my models from being a partner in a restoration shop years ago. When I prep a model body and paint and polish it for a museum or contest/show car, the paint has to be perfect when examined from 2-3 inches under bright reflective light. These jobs take many hours, but unless there was major bodywork to be done on a 1:1 Pantera, I can't imagine spending $32000 to prep and paint it. For that price I would expect that every square inch be flawless when viewed up close and through magnification.

No one is that crazy! Although, if anyone out there wants a perfect paint job and has money to burn, I guess I might even be tempted by that kind of money
