Reply to "Pantera Preservation And Rescue"

Mike, I too have had similar thoughts. As I search for my car I come across sad cases in need of LOTS of TLC, something I can't manage. Such as that rusty blue one sitting outside in the grass that showed up at a web site a few weeks back. I'm afraid even basket cases are too expensive for any chapter treasury, not to mention the POCA treasury. A large enough chapter could maybe fund, at $100-$200 each member, a rescue fund for one purchase, restore it as a chapter project, sell and recoup the investment to proceed to a second resto. But, as in most groups, it would turn out to be only a few doing most all of the work. Most members do not have enough time for their own cars, and I think most chapters would find this to be a never completed project. I had a PCNC member tell of the time he saw three (3!!!) Panteras at a local wrecking yard, stacked upon each other. It is a sad thing to think of these cars just going to a scrap smelter, but I fear it will continue until, unless, one of our heavy moneybags members considers it a charitable cause to buy, store and manage project cars and parts for the rest of the community. How about the first one of us to hit a $40 million lottery stepping up to the plate?? My 2 Larry Finch
