Reply to "Pantera Prices."

A Hudson,
Love the E-type, my cousin had a '63 silver blue with the navy top, restored and sold years ago (and sorry he did as he'd like to have it back). The Z-8 while attractive with the roof down just seems too tall or upright with the roof up and the prices are just nutty. About 3 years ago just goofing around on ebay, I put a bid on a reasonably low mileage 2002 Jag XKR which ended up not meeting its reserve. To my surprise, the owner contacted me and said they would accept my offer of just over $15000. Since it was about a 5 hour drive from me up to San Jose, I rented a car that I could drive up and leave at Hertz if I liked the car, and then drive the XKR home. I got there and found a stunning, nearly mint condition (poorly touched up scratch on rear quarter and curb rash on the wheels were the only things that kept if from being a perfect car) convertible. It has become my daily driver and is the reason I don't drive my Pantera much anymore. It's extremely comfortable, classic E-type inspired looks, almost 400hp, easy to get in and out of as I'm 6'-2"--220lbs, effortless driving. At some point I'd like to get a 5.0L (2010-2013, 510-560hp) coupe so that I could take it to the track. The depreciation is so staggering in the first 2-3 years that they're quite affordable. The funny thing about my 2002 is that I probably paid less for it that a five year old Camry, and I've put an additional 70K miles on the car in the 3 years. Enjoy the E!
