What year car do you have? The early cars did not have the pinch weld lip notch on the cover (you can see the notch on the left by the red mark locator) and most of the cars had the top open where the headlight bucket supports are. Look to see if the tops are open or not. If yes, you should cover the opening or make the cover plate like this picture. I can send you a copy of the shape if you need the modified shield to cover the top opening.

This was a test fit---no paint or mounting screws in the pic.
