Well, I used to have a Cleveland T-stat lying around somewhere that I was going to compare my 4.6 version to!!! I'll find it next week sometime......!

I did look at one out of my 4.6L engine and it looks VERY much similar! I think the bottom one opens once it heats up, as well as the top one......

Jack DeRyke had a great explanation of how it all worked in one of the POCA newsletters a while back........

BUT if it is working for you, great!!!! That is one of the symptoms of not working properly...over heating!

If you pop that center piece out of the intake, below the t-stat, and replace it with a flat plug, you can then run the regular T-stat...
