As far as the insurance company goes, they will be as fair as they "have" to be. They are only required to pay "fair market value" unless you have stated value on the vehicle. My suggestion to everyone owning a collectable car, have it surveyed, and insured accordingly.

It really sucks to see this owners pride and joy in this condition, it's ashame for sure. Hopefully he has sufficent insurance to ease his pain.
