If the wrist pin intersects the oil ring, it allows for more blow-by of the combustion gases into the crankcase. This can lead to the unburned fuel that gets into the crankcase to dilute the oil, making it thinner and eroding the lubricating properties of the oil. Of course, this will lead to premature bearing (usually main bearing) failure.
If you built such a motor, you'd just have to monitor and change the oil more frequently.
