Sounds like, for whatever reason, your ignition has decided to slowly suicide. I would look closely at the coil and MSD. Sure, they're used by NASCAR. They also carry two or three, all wired in so when (not if) the thing dies, they can switch to a fresh unit and finish the race. Coils also spontaneously open their internals when hot, then close up after cooling.
