As I guided Tom to view the Panteras staged at the car show, he was most interested in the modifications from his original design. He walked past cars that were mostly stock and took more time evaluating modified examples. He was very sensitive about making any negative comments so as not to offend anyone so he was not very forthcoming on modifications for which he didn't care. That said, he was open and seemed to welcome the modifications owners made. He took no offense to changes in his original design and seemed delighted that people were evolving his initial concept. He seems most proud of the Pantera's haunches behind the side windows. This includes the triangular window and side gill. He was not a fan of the Amerisport louvres that I have on my car and was impressed with the large elephant ears that reach out beyond the boundary layer to grab air. He felt that in an open intake system, the smaller vents would not draw much air into the engine compartment due to rough boundary layer. He was very impressed with Rick Rossier's blue car pictured previously. He repeated stated how tasteful all the modifications were executed. When pointedly asked, what he would like to see the generation Pantera look like? He stated he would be proud to build what Rick had created. He especially like the nose treatment on his Pantera. Tall praise indeed! My understanding is that Rick actually did all the work on his Pantera. Perhaps he can get a job at Tjaarda Design Studios.
