Thanks Jack. I think having the neck cut off and an american one put on the chrome bottle I have is a smarter way to go than buying a new one at 200.00+ dollars that everybody wants for them.
I found exactly what your saying. I was using the 16lbs cap. I also found that it's not really seating against the inner lip of the bottle. The next of the bottle is just a little too deep. Someone told me to try a highter poundage cap like around 22. But I figure better to spend the money and have it done right.
At least from then on the caps cost 5.00 each and not 40 to 50.00 each.
