Pull distributor from in car?

Is it possible to remove and replace the distributor while the engine is in the car? The two problems I can think of are:

- won't clear the firewall/rear window
- won't go back in without pulling the oil pump

I have done a complete carburetor rebuild, and want to get the full benefit of it by checking the advance curve of the distributor. If I can do this in the car, that's great; if not, it can wait until I pull the motor next winter.

(I have rebuilt several motors, but never a small-block ford.)
