Reply to "Quaife 62G transaxle?"

This is the ZFQ transaxle developed as a direct replacement for the ZF primarily for the GT40 replica market when it was booming and everyone was waiting a year to get their hands on a ZF.

It can also now be had with straight cut gears and dog engagement for competition use and even teh suncro version is being successfully used in competition GT40's with no failures to date.

The ZFQ is sold exclusively through GT Transmissions (Chris Melia) http://www.gttransmissions.co.uk/ and was GBP6500 (currently a little under US$11K) When the GBP to US exchange rate was down to 1.35 it represented excellent value at under $9K.

There is a some in depth discussion about it on www.GT40s.com and this is a link the main thread ZFQ Transaxle

I don't know anyone that has purchased the flipped version for use in a Pantera yet. The cost for the GT40 guys is having a std -2 ZF flipped to use in the GT40 orientation (about a $3K cost in addition to the transaxle) so for them the ZFQ already in that orientation makes more sense. That and the economy means the bottom has dropped out of the ZF market and you can get a good ZF for Pantera use for around $5-6K.
