thanks for the comments & support Gary. There is a behind the scenes aspect to the bulletin board that influences our decisions. If a disparaging remark is made about somebody, that person may not appreciate it remaining in public view, and may contact the owner or moderators privately and request that the remarks be deleted. Its a judgement call on the behalf of Dave, Mark or whoever, what happens with the locked post, we hope to have your support in doing what we think is best. If a post goes off topic immediately, there is little sense in keeping it around. If there is significant content before the trouble brews, it may be best to edit out the bad stuff & keep the rest.
No matter what is done, there is always somebody unhappy, and private remarks, and threats, are always made. Its impossible to make everybody happy, and its impossible for the owner & moderators to have perfect judgement, we are, after all, imperfect human beings. The intention is never censorship. That never enters the mind. It's all about keeping the peace.
