Reply to "Racing Numbers"

Ron,

Boy you type long and FASSSST! Grin.

By the time I have finished your post, I've forgotten the first part. Getting old I guess.

Anyway, the only e-mail I have received from you (Ron Norman) was today, at 10:31am and 11:05am. Not much time to respond before the next one arrives, eh ?

Now note that I am on a dial up. Contrary to some opinion, I don't have e-mail from several accounts sent to my phone, or the brain-implanted chip. (That brain chip is for something else, grin.)

So I am sorry that I can't reply as rapidly as you desire. But then that is why it is so cool that this forum has so many qualified people willing to step in and help.

Hell, I don't care who posts on this or any thread, but keep it to the topic, or pick a new thread. That way future searches find it easier.

If you are the kind of guy that gets REAL excited about any fresh or current topic, and feels ready to jump on it, ASAP....
Go for it. Live your life as you see fit.

I was trained (ruined) by "Defense Intelligence" and Commercial Defense Contractors
where we are trained to figure (some/all ?) things out first, then move on it.

So my method on this topic was to gather interested parties names, do research, get a sample, try it out, analyze (or over-analyze)
review/modify/correct, then educate the parties on the list. How much, when available, options, schedule, etc... The Who, What, Where When, and Why... standard journalism focus.

THEN jump in, buy, distribute, review, correct if necessary.

But that is my way, satellite/space engineering.

Like you, I also get excited about something new, and become active, but if I hit a brick wall, or it becomes a hassle or no longer 'fun',
I step back and remind myself that I do this for fun. No longer fun ? I find the next new exciting "thing".

Back to this topic, I felt it necessary to find the appropriate sizes, and features, then get a sample, then test (drive the car at speed to see if it blows off.) then make my recomendation to others.

It was brought up that the magnetic style (versus vinyl) could or has blown off. Where I live, I see cars & trucks with magnetic signs on the doors, etc...ALL THE TIME. Have I seen piles (or even one ?) lost on the highways ? Ah NO. Where I live, people often drive 80-90 mph and more, as part of their regular lives.
So, although I think a speed test (before buying) might be enlightening, I don't expect disasters.
It has been wisely suggested to add a small piece of tape on the leading edge of the magnet.
Probably a decent idea.

I have other thoughts to improve the roundels...but I am kind of losing steam on this. Since you found a source at a reasonable price, and are ready RIGHT NOW. Then do it.

Then report back what you have learned.
Images of your result, options, price, delivery schedule, installing methods, lessons learned, storage and re-useability, (at least) should be reported.

I look forward to your post on this, in your typical detail, so I can learn from your experiences and knowledge.

To correct any possible misconception, PanteraPlace is hosted by Mike Dailey, and it is a WONDERFUL resource. I hope it continues.
My car story appeared there, initially, because it saved me from telling the story over and over and over ... While I got my website up and running.

My meager website (geocities.com/ProvaMo72) was meant to fill a temporary void, which it has done, to satisfy me, and apparently numerous others.

CRAP now I have written a long post, eeek!
Note that I only check back here (PIBB) every few days, or when time permits.
It is now a young child's bedtime, and I must tell a story or two.
Chuck
