I used the cigar lighter. Nthing else on it as I remember. The radar hard wire will have an inline fuse. The amps on the detector in line fuse are a fraction of the cigar lighter fuse. Since the detector is such a low amp draw, you could tap off of the radio wire, assuming you have a radio.
