Radiator cooling fan "manual" switch on the console

My 71 has always had a switch on the console with a fan icon on it in the 3rd position down (headlights, heater;A/C, Fans, Coutersy). It never worked and I never cared because my fans are on a new switch I installed when I redid my car's cooling system. In working on wiring today, I removed that switch to find a solid blue and gray/black wires on it. I can find no reference to where these wires went or even any reference in all the wiring diagrams of the existence of such a switch. Can anyone provide insight as to this switch and what relay the wires went to?

I may choose to reuse the switch for something but find it strange that the switch does not appear in any of the on-line literature.
