The small hose was DeTomaso's attempt to remove air from the radiator. It didn't work. Not a problem that it isn't there. Just plug the small port on the coolant tube.

The way the little hose was suppose to work was: as the coolant flowed by the hose port on the coolant tube, in theory, a vacuum was created, thus sucking any air trapped at the top of the radiator and sending it to the back of the car where the swirl tank would eventually capture it. It didn't really work!
