What's special about the radio delete plate, and are there aftermarket copies?

The real ones are in 3D relief to match the rest of the gauge console, including the raised edge and panther stripe in chrome and the textured black background. They haven't been available from the vendors for some time now. Finding one with good chrome is very rare. Even one with less than good chrome has value.

The cars were delivered without any radios, dealers added them with whatever was laying around or whatever they could sell for the most money, eg, a Becker or Blaupunkt. So, you would need one of these for a correct restoration. That's why I mounted my radio under the Delete Plate.
