Ed, That's slightly embarrassing, but hardly qualifies as "really bad". Really bad would be when you do a burnout and blow the engine, or a wheel falls off and you grind off the road into a ditch afterwards.
MT GT40 did exactly the same thing and as long as I revved high enough nobody could hear the squeals over the roar! In my case a worn belt, increased tension and readjustment of a slightly off alignment alternator was all that was needed. I'm sure it's nothing major. Soon your pride will be restored!
