These are called pretty bars...because they're pretty and don't work.
You want are brace that goes right to the ends of the openings where they get bolted or else they don't support the wheelhouses.
I'll try to find a picture of one. My 72 had the proper brace. Joseph has one he made that is correct. Mark C has a pic of Joseph's engine.
