Truly a Pantera quirk. When I worked in the computer software industry, we'd call that a feature and some marketing guy would be put in charge of finding a benefit related to it.

Really not much of safety issue though since it's the sideview mirrors that you need to see what's around you. Rearview mirrors really are for checking for the cops!
