Great idea. This way, you will have both inner and outer bearings updated to "double row" versions. I've got to be careful with the inner spacer dimensions. A little trick I learned from the experts setting up 9" FORD rear differentials is to use a "crush" type spacer initially. After correctly torqueing the axle nut, then take it apart and machine a "solid" spacer to the exact length of the "crushed" spacer. That way it can never change dimensions.

It is more advisable to replace the outer bearing with a double row ball bearing because it is it who is the most loaded, but that forces to deepen its housing in the Hub.
