Reply to "rear wing aerodynamics"

I believe that the wing was commandeered from the Countach. Lamborghini is a little unique in that it does not have a test track. They test on the street.
The test drivers have some kind on an agreement with the local police that they do not have to respect the posted speed limits. I suppose it is the equivalent of being issued a 00 number by the Secret Service?

I remember a road test article on the Countach in which the writer remarked that according to the Lamborghini test drivers, the wing limited the top speed of the car to under 200mph vs about 205 without it. What freaking kind of roads do they drive on in Italy? Geeze.

I would expect the same limitations with the wing on the Pantera.

You should ask the Canadian Pantera owners though. Many of them have them strangely enough. Maybe they have the same agreement as the Lamborghini test drivers do? LOL! After all, most of them live like 2 miles from where they work, so they NEED a car that does 200mph? roll on floor

The nose of the Pantera tends to lift at speeds over 170mph. Not only does that mean that the steering gets spooky light, it means that the cars steers where it wants up there. Kind of like a speedboat though getting momentarily light which makes it dart uncomfortably left and right. Possibly lethally.

For function, down force needs to be added to the front of the car, not the rear.

The rear isn't a problem. Personally I agree with Coz. The thing is for putting your beer on the back, your barbie for tailgate parties and seemingly is put there to impress the 12 year olds. I would go as far to say that it's probably what an Italian pimp would want on his car?

OK. Who wants to take the first slug at me now? burn rubber I didn't say anything is wrong with being a pimp...or a 12 year old. I was one once too. A 12 year old that is. Oh geeze, am I gonna get it now? Big Grin
