It sounds like you want to retain the stock gauge housings, but add new guts.

Don't forget that Hollywood, and others, can take modern gauges and swap in new stock-looking Veglia-appearing faces.

The new housings may not have totally stock-matching surround bezels. Not sure if the Veglia bezels could be adapted/installed on modern gauge housings, but easy to make some calls and ask questions.
