Reply to "Relocation of temp gauge"

As far as the temp guage goes, when I took out the tank I stripped and painted it. I did not take out the temp unit. I put a band of rubber around the tank before I re-installed the clamp around the tank to keep it from scratching the tank. I did this on both tanks before I re-installed them. So do I need to take the rubber ring off the tank for the temp guage to work? I plan on moving it to the front of the motor at some point. Is the place in the front of the motor easy to get to?. Does the freeze plug work better than a thermostat? I don't drive the car in the winter at all. (Indiana) so I really don't care about the heat. I may drive it in the fall if it is perfect out at around 55-60 degrees far.Second.., the fans both work all the time now. Only one was working., but now when I turn on the ignition key they both turn on. I would rather have them working all the time I guess.
