Reply to "Remove Tach"

Well brothers and sisters, I feel your pains.

The dual pod is a little easier to work with, the single pod is another story altogether. In fact getting the tach and speedo out is actually the easier part with the single pod. Getting them tightened back in is a different story.

I have found that to reinstall, if you install wing nuts on the studs, you can rotate them by their wings with a long screw driver.

The frustrating thing is that you can see everything from beneath the dash but you can't touch the original thumb screws with your hands and get a grip on them.

For installing that one new wire to the back of the tach for the P-E push button start, you may want to install a terminal screw on the new dual tab on the tach to insure it does not disconnect itself after reinstall. Been there done that.

The speedo goes back in first. Tighten it up via the tach hole, then the tach goes in since it has a little more room from under the dash and no duct to deal with.

You can get the wingnuts from Home Depot. They happen to stock them in stainless. Strange, but true.
