Removing the transmission.

I need to remove the transmission on my early 71 car. Has the dash - 1 ZF with the rear mount.
Is it possible to get it out without removing the clutch housing? The 4 bolts from the clutch housing seems long, compared to the travel I am able to give the trans after the nuts are removed.
If i am to have the trans serviced/checked, where in Europe can I have that done ?
