Once the engine is out, I'd suggest you have the rear crossmember and e-brake bracket made removable so the oil pan can be removed with the engine left in. Then I'd pull the gas tank, have it epoxy painted outside, remove the sender and remove the nylon filter bag from the end of the out-pipe, de-rust the frame area behind it and the matching one on the right side. Change the clutch slave to a long-throw type to prolong the trans synchros, and safety wire the ring gear bolts. When you rebuild the engine, add a 10-qt oil pan & high volume pump. All the rest can be done with the powertrain back in, when your billfold recovers.....
