Reply to "right angle speedo drive"

Hi all,

Many thanks to all who gave me advice on this. I was able to use a 'rare earth' magnet - very strong and very small - to extract the broken speedo drive. As was suggested to me, I put the magnet on top of the broken speedo drive to hold it from falling into the transmission, then screwed on the broken angle drive to use as a lever, and removed the bolt that held everything in place from dropping it all into the transmission. I pulled the whole unit out with the housing that the angle drive screwed to - very carefully (it felt like I was doing an operation) - I even turned the sterio off and had no distractions, and everything was out and the new parts installed in actually less than 3 mins. I am told that I was lucky.......... Many thanks to Lloyd at RBT for good advice and a used speedo drive and also to Jack (Bosswrench) for supplying me with a repaired angle drive. What a great Forum to belong to and a lot of very helpful people!! I just wish that everything Pantera repair related went so well. Now onto another issue that I will post in the electrical area.

Thanks again,
Steve
