safety wire question

hey guys, how difficult is it for the do-it yourselfer to safety wire the ring gear bolts, and replace side cover gaskets on a ZF ? (special tools etc.) i have mine out for detailing, so i dropped the pan to check for safety wire and found that it wasnt done, the gear oil looked like new, and zero metal fragments in pan (THANK GOD !!!)
