First of all the old ring gear bolts came loose becase of the serrated head bolt,look under the head and you will see, what is happening is you have two hard surface's the bolt and the diff housing, well the serrated head bolt is suppost to lock up on the diff but the harden surface is brittle so over time the bolts back out. If you ever work on a race car gearbox Hewland ect. It comes with a big warning DO NOT RE-USE OLD BOLTS on the new ring gears, because they strech and loose there strength, on the the ZF bolts you also have the serrated head to add to the problem. New bolts,red locktite, lockwire, it's the best and cheapest insurance you can buy.
