Jannem, remember years ago I showed it's possible to LOWER the entire engine and ZF by nearly an inch, by sectioning the lower motor mounts and redrilling the ZF mount tabs. A small amount of rework of the rad transfer pipe clearance to the frame and the alt/AC bracket needed as well. This is easier with a much lighter rotary AC compressor.
It's also possible to combine this drop with a 3/4" backwards shift of the powertrain. The ultimate limitations (without even more rework!) are the clearance between the crossmember and the oil pan (I use an Aviaid 10-qt) and my Romac harmonic balancer to the water transfer pipes. NO problem with exhausts, wiring, hoses or shift linkage for these moves, which definitely help air cleaner clearance. And this is a '72 L street Pantera that remains quite driveable.
