shift linkage adjustment

The turnbuckle adjustment with the 2 stop nuts came loose when my body shop guy came to pick up my car for a minor blemish repair. As he drove it he only had 2nd & 3rd gear. I went to pick it up today and tightened up the turnbuckle with the shifter in neutral and manually made sure the tranny was in neutral. I was able to get the shifter into the 5 forward gears but not into reverse. Any helpful ideas would be appreciated.
