Reply to "Shock Selection - QA1/HAL"

Hey my man... Good question.

The spring rates are that common with other aftermarket Pantera Shocks. So the sitting height and spring rates should be in line. Most aftermarkets are 450 and 500/550 springs. You will feel the higher spring rates.

The double adjustable "bounce and rebound" question depends on what you want to do. Great for tuning the ride but I am sure most people do not touch the adjustments unless they run track events. Everything requires tuning for each event. Most people the standard settings as it is a great compromise and is good enough. I have double adustment shocks but honestly never raced enough to test the adjustements let alone record the effects of each change.

Qa1 is a good shock company, but via summit I am not sure of their road racing capabilities. Drag, SCCA and other events each have a different requirement. Fluid capacity for cooling effects, heat handling capibilites, damping rates etc. At their price point, their are 1/2 that of "common" pantera shocks. Some alarm bells.

So either run against the grain. Try them and report back of results or cave in for tested aftermarket shocks. At the price point there is little to lose. Either the fit and work or you return. Since we have a summit shop in town, they are kind of cool about returns.

Did you have any problems in finding a mounting pattern and system compatable with the Pantera's front and rear system?

As a note I run the ADCO alum shocks, same spring rate but about $400 each. I went the Alum route for weight reasons.
