Reply to "Single Turbo Conversion"

I have never seen a single turbo setup on a Pantera personally. I see no reason why it wouldnt work just fine. The turbos these days are so much more efficient and frictional losses are so much less the benefit of twins is less and less. As far as how efficient the holes in the decklid are I cant say yet. I havent got to the point where I have done tests on it, but I will. I am hoping that the low pressure area above the decklid combined with the low pressure between the wing and the decklid will help move air through the core. I Have build ducting from the condenser area to the bottom of the core and plan to seal the top of the core to the decklid as well. After all this is set up I will plumb in some thermocouples before and after the IC to test efficiency. To this day I have not tuned my car properly nor done a full dyno run so cant give a proven power figure but I have four hours of dyno time planned for the beginning of this summer so I will know soon. The car wont be detuned as when it is out of boost it is as tame as a kitten. Once you hit 3500 rpm all hell breaks loose (as do the rear tires). Thats the beauty of a turbo setup. One big thing to keep in mind is oiling. Mainly draining the oil from the turbo. Many turbos are quite sensitive to this. Get it wrong and you end up with a car that smokes a lot and at worse I imagine failure of the turbo. I had to go through 3 iterations of my oil drains to get it right. I have no experience with the blow through stuff so cant help there. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I love talking about turbo stuff.
