Reply to "Skid Plate Location"

A skid plate at least under the bellhousing is an excellent addition- especially if you run low profile tires which can lower the car even more. One Mangusta snagged a protruding manhole cover at 'some' speed. It smashed the bottom half of the bellhousing, broke the flywheel & clutch, cracked the front of the ZF case and left the car undriveable a few yards past the obstruction. I TIG-welded the 'jigsaw-puzzle' of expensive broken castings back together & it was quite a chore. The damage was so complete, the welding heat warped the ZF case and bellhousing like potato chips, forcing me to then true up the welded parts on a big milling machine. It all worked out but was not a cheap fix for the owner!
