slave cylinder questions

I need to replace my slave cylider seals on the piston. It is an aftermarket cylinder (chrome or polished ss) that fits in the stock bracket although I have upgraded to the milled aluminum one Hall and the other vendors sell. There seems to be many different slave cylinders on the market. Do I measure the o.d. of the piston and tell the vendor that size? Also I have seen some advertised that they are "long throw" to fully disengage the clutch. Is this recommended/necessary on a Centerforce clutch?
