My car does not have any connectors here. It has a small terminal strip instead. Never had any problems with melting wires. OF course, I rewired my fuse box years ago to move more functions to battery like the cooling fans. This divided current better and ran less current through the ignition switch.

It is a good thing this didnt get worse. Electrical can start some pretty good car fires.
