In the US the spare tire mounted in the rear trunk tub, there's even a circular notch in the tub to locate the tire. The circular notch is rather small in diameter because the spare tire was a BF Goodrich inflatable spare.

Everywhere else in the world the spare tire was located in the front boot.

During frontal crash testing performed by the US DOT, the front hood (bonnet) popped open & the spare tire flew out and through the windshield into the passenger compartment. So the DOT insisted the tire had to be relocated.
