Sounds like a good way to go. What does that yield in cubic inches? I was just going to do a std. displacement rebuild, but after doing a lot of reading I'm concluding that adding cubic inches will really "wake up" the Cleveland and give greater reliable power where you can use it - on the street.
Also, what about Scat cranks? They offer a lot of versions and I believe are made in the U.S.
Speede-O-Motive says they will build any combination I wish, allowing me to pick and choose the parts.
