Reply to "speedo bounce"

The bounce in my Pantera's speedo needle was resolved by spraying some WD40 down the ends of the cable. The grease gets very stiff and sticky after 40 years, the solvents in the WD40 soften up the grease. It would be better to pull the inner cable, clean it, and re-grease it with a synthetic based grease. But the quick and dirty solution resolved the problem and lazy old me never went back to finish the job appropriately.
