Yes the cable and speedometer work. The shaft on the angle drive that the cable connects to would rotate freely while in the trany. Surely it should not if all was good. I pulled the "bolt" in question and pulled the assembly from the tranmission. I did not hear a thing drop and the angle drive feals no different, removed from the trany.
It's time to pull the trany anyway to check for safty wire.
I am curious as to what the shaft or gear that drops internally looks like.
