I figured it out--the 90 gearbox does have a female fitting--the cable was broken clean at the junction--took a drill bit and got a few of the broken cables out and pulled out the end with pliers--both ends of the cable are male--as I hoped--gearbox runs smoothe--after sitting in oil all nigght--new cable on order--thanx for the guideance--I will need more
